CAN I SEND YOU MY MUSIC?

Yes, we have a submission form here.

DO YOU ACCEPT MUSIC FROM INDEPENDENT/UNSIGNED ARTISTS?

Yes! If you follow our channel you shouldn't even need to ask that question, in fact in the last 6 months 64% of the music we have featured is from unsigned artists. Of that 64%, a third of those artists recorded their music in their bedroom; it doesn't get any more independent than that!

Is the music on this channel royalty/copyright free (Can i use it on my channel/vlog)?

Firstly, all music is copyrighted. If someone creates original content it doesn't need to be professionally published to 'gain a copyright', creators automatically have the rights to their works. Again, none of the music we feature is by default royalty free either. However, many artists are happy for you use to their music on your own videos, and many of the songs we feature aren't flagged in YouTube's copyright system, BUT you need to contact the artist/rights holder of the music and gain their permission to use it on your own content. The artists we feature on here are all lovely people and are fairly good at responding to contact via email/social media so send them a message if you want to use their music! They may have legitimate reasons for not giving you permission but they also may be more than happy, so you may as well ask!

ARE YOU LESS LIKELY TO FEATURE MY MUSIC IF I DON'T WANT YOU TO MONETISE IT?

Not at all, the whole concept of 'buying favour' in the industry drives us crazy! If you make great music but don't want us to monetise it, of course we are still going to share it! We'd never leave out an artist for that reason. None of what we do is about making money so that is never our drive or motive, we simply make money when we can (by getting permission from the rights holders) in order to improve this platform for the artists and put more back into it.

Why are there ads on your youtube channel, Do you just make money from other people's music?

No! We only feature music on our YouTube channel that we have permission to feature first of all. Secondly adverts appear when an artist distributes their music with a company who send copyright data to YouTube, these companies automatically monetise their content for them meaning that most of the adverts on our channel generate revenue for the artists. But in our process of seeking permission to feature music, we also ask artists if we can instead monetise that content - why?, well it costs money to run this website and the YouTube channel and takes a lot of time also. The more money we have to run it the more we can invest back into the platform and give back to artists by providing a better platform to share their music on. It also means we can invest in future plans and projects which we'll soon be able to share with you.

Who is the team behind this?

Yes, but only since September 2017, before then I always worked alongside running this!

HOW DO YOU FIND ALL THIS MUSIC?

Some of it is sent to us, but lots of it we find from various places. We don't have any secret sources or other blogs we use we just follow lots and lots and lots of artists across a number of different platforms and keep our ear to the ground

Can i join the team?

We're always looking for writers, if you're keen to write album reviews and you have good taste in music then get in touch with us and include some examples of written reviews you've done. We're happy to have people get involved but it's not a paid job!
